WHAT ARE PDO MONO THREADS?
PDO threads are a Non-Surgical alternative for skin lifting & tightening. Not to be confused with the “barbed” lifting threads, PDO mono threads are smooth, gentle collagen inducing threads. They are made from an absorbable polymer (polydioxanone) the same material as dissolvable sutures. If you have ever had sutures, then you have most likely had this same material.
HOW DO PDO MONO THREADS WORK?
Once injected under the skin PDO mono threads tighten and support the treated area. The threads are inserted using a needle, the needle is removed leaving the threads in place beneath the skin. The threads then stimulate natural collagen and elastin production which lifts, supports, tightens, and rejuvenates ageing skin. PDO threads are also used as a preventative treatment to prevent the face from sagging.
ARE PDO MONO THREADS PERMANANT?
The threads themselves will slowly dissolve over 4 to 6 months. However, Once achieved, the collagen and elastin effect will last much longer. Generally, up to around 12 months post procedure.
WHERE CAN PDO MONO THREADS BE USED?
Almost anywhere on the face and body. A safer treatment alternative to other higher risk injectables.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
The number of treatments required will depend on the individual, baseline damage, age, desired effect, ability to produce collagen and the area being treated. Once results are achieved an annual maintenance treatment is recommended.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Once the threads have been inserted you may notice an immediate tightening effect. As with any skin rejuvenation treatment results are dependent on your body’s ability to grow collagen. This happens over a period of around 8 to 12 weeks; therefore, end results are seen approximately 2 to 3 months post procedure.
HOW MUCH WILL THE PROCEDURE COST?
Price depends on the area being treated, and the number and type of threads required. More threads equal more collagen. We would recommend a consultation to allow for proper assessment and to provide you with accurate pricing for your individual requirements.
DOES IT HURT?
Like all injectable procedures some individuals may experience mild discomfort during the procedure. Topical and injected local anaesthetic is used to maximise your comfort.
HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
Treatment time may vary between individuals, but generally it is a fairly quick procedure. Threads are typically inserted over 15 to 30 minutes.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
As with any procedure that uses needles to penetrate the skin there is potential for bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort. These are considered normal side effects.
