What is Tear Trough Dermal Filler?
Tear trough dermal filler is used to restore volume loss to the area under the eyes.
The dermal fillers used at Euphoria Cosmedic Clinic are made from complex sugar chains and are combined with a unique stabilisation process to make them last. This gel-like substance is found naturally in the body already, where its main roles are to attract and bind water, improve hydration and replace volume within the dermal layer of skin.
Dermal filler is administered via a needle or cannula after the area has been numbed using a prescription topical numbing cream. Dermal filler products also contain a local anaesthetic for added comfort.
What concerns can be treated with tear trough filler?
- Eye hollows
- Tired eyes
- Dark circles
- Eye bags (in some cases a surgical procedure may be necessary prior to, or in place of treatment with dermal fillers, this will be determined during your consultation)
What will I look like after my treatment?
Often people are concerned that they will look ‘fake’ if they undergo a dermal filler treatment. This is usually because they have seen undesirable or extreme results on others. It’s important to remember that you will not usually notice a good, natural result.
Through artistic ability and the use of the correct product in the correct place, we are able to achieve extremely natural looking results. Following a tear trough dermal filler treatment, you will simply look fresher, results are subtle but effective.
Immediately following your treatment
Your Nurse will advise you of the possible side effects and what to expect after your treatment during your consultation. You will also be given an after-care sheet to take home with you if you go ahead with a treatment.
As an indication, the most common and expected side-effects you may experience include;
- Skin redness
- Slight pain or tenderness
Will the treatment hurt?
The area will be numbed with topical anaesthetic before the treatment, and the product to be injected contains a local anaesthetic for your added comfort. Afterwards, icing and the use of mild pain relief medication can also help with any discomfort. Avoiding certain activities for the first few days, such as drinking alcohol, strenuous exercise, excessive heat (saunas, sunbaking, spas etc.) or flying may all help to keep your swelling and discomfort to a minimum.
How long does a tear trough dermal filler generally last?
You can expect to retreat at 9-12 months to maintain the result, but some people find it lasts them much longer. Your body will metabolise the product naturally over time. The length of time between subsequent treatments will vary from person to person and can depend on things such as genetics, lifestyle, or metabolism, as well as the type and amount of product used.
