The Dermapen 3 Has Arrived at Euphoria!
In this article I will cover the new features of the Dermapen 3 and the differences between traditional skin needling devices and Dermapen. But more importantly, I have listed what it will do for your skin.
For those of you who have not tried the treatment and are curious about what it feels like, I have also included my first experience with Dermapen.
The New and Improved, Dermapen 3
Designed here in Australia, the new pen was built with the use of feedback from the first two models. CEO of Equipmed, Stene Marshall, says, "We learned what the market was seeking through responses to our first two models and applied this knowledge in the development of our latest Dermapen™. Unlike many pens that are off the shelf re-badges of existing products, our Dermapen 3™ was designed from scratch in Australia and represents a complete new and professional-grade solution for the medical market,".
New features include:
- 1300 Micro Holes per second
- 12 Fine s/s Hi Tensile Needles
- Advanced Needle Depth Control
- Heavy-duty Cycle Motor
- Adjustable Speed Control
- Advanced Oscillating Vertical Needling (AOVN™)
- Integrated cable design
What does it do for me?
Dermapen is an amazing technology developed to:
- Induce natural collagen production
- Assist with tightening and lifting skin
- Treat pigmentation by allowing deeper penetration of products
- Treat all types of scars (including acne, keloid and surgical scars)
- Reduce wrinkles
- Improve stretch marks
- Minimize pore size
- Generally prevent the appearance of aging
Why is Dermapen so much better than other Skin Needling methods?
Dermapen is a far more advanced method of skin needling. It creates less trauma and pain to the client and allows a much safer and faster treatment. It is able to be safely used in more delicate areas, even around the eyes and nose, due to it's vertical insertion method and the fact that you can reduce the needle depth within seconds. The automatic vibrating function of the needlings allows it to penetrate the skin 1300 times in just 1 second, which is even 20% faster than the still amazing Dermapen 2 model.

My Personal Experience With Dermapen
I recently had my first Dermapen treatment and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised! I was a bit apprehensive about the treatment I must say but it was probably the most comfortable cosmetic treatment I've had done it turns out!
What does the treatment feel like?
I had my numbing cream on for around 15 minutes before treatment. We treated my whole face, including around my eyes and my nose. It was practically painless. Some areas I couldn't even feel, others were a bit prickly, but it was over so quickly and at no time was it so uncomfortable that I felt I needed to discontinue. If you've ever had a wax or done any kind of laser treatment, you'll be fine as this is less painful in my opinion.
What will my skin feel like after my treatment?
My face started to feel a bit hot and flushed afterwards, especially when the numbing cream wore off later, but it honestly felt like I had just been in the sun too long!
The next morning, my skin felt a bit tight and prickly, once again similar to a sun burn. My face continued to feel a bit flushed and hot for half the day, but by the end of the day it felt normal again. So within 24 hours my skin was feeling pretty much back to normal.
Everybody's reaction will generally vary of course, depending on things such as how many treatments you have had, how your skin reacts, and what needle depth Rachel has used.
What will I look like after my treatment?
I was a little bit blotchy-looking immediately after treatment and went a bit more red as time went on that evening. It looked like sunburn.
The following day I was still flushed and covered it easily with makeup. To be honest, I felt quite 'glowy' the next day.
On days 3-4 my skin was developing a few dry/rough patches, much like after the Emerge Fractional Laser, for those of you who have had this treatment before. It was nothing too serious or noticeable.
All in all there has been practically no side effects for me this time besides the redness and a bit of dry skin. I can't wait for my next treatment.
